John C. Keith, 82, of Forsyth, MO.

John Curtis Keith born November 18, 1934, Henryetta, OK, passed into God's Holy Kingdom on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the Forsyth Care Center, Forsyth, MO.

A memorial service will be held at Community Presbyterian Church, Forsyth, MO on Saturday, October 14, 2017, Pastor Dennis Winzenried presiding.

          John is the son of H. Phelan and Lenna Belle (Pinkston) Keith, Forsyth, MO, who preceded him in death.  John and Gretchen (Gould) Keith were united in marriage on August 23, 1959, Cushing, OK.

          John is a graduate of Cushing High School, Class of 1953.  He attended Oklahoma University and graduated with a BA degree from Oklahoma A&M College and a MS degree from Oklahoma State University.  He served as a medic in the US Army and later was a member of the "Rolling W" in the US Army Reserves, Wichita, KS. John spent 33 years as a professional educator: 6 years Mead Junior High, Wichita, KS, as a history teacher; 1 year at Kansas State University as a guest instructor at the College of Education; another year at Mead Junior High School; 6 years as a principal at Colby Junior High School, Colby, KS; 5 years as Division I principal at Lee's Summit High School, Lee's Summit, MO; 14 years as Assistant Superintendent of Instruction at Buhler USD 313, Buhler, KS learning and teaching the "Buhler Way" to new teachers that he hired.

          He is survived by his wife Gretchen of 58 years, son John David (JD) Keith and wife Karen, children Meagan husband Shane Vaughn, great grandchild Isla Wren Vaughn; Ian wife Amanda Keith; Greer husband Michael Flanagan, great grandchild Leland Charles and Kiernan Flanagan and Kathryn Keith; and son Paul and wife Denise Keith, children Connor, Trevor and Brianna, as well as many other dearly loved friends and relatives.

          John served as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church in Colby, Lee's Summit, Hutchinson and Forsyth.  He served as KASCD School Curriculum Development State President, KSAC Administration Club President; American Association of School Curriculum Development member, Phi Delta Kappa, United School Administrators (USA), Explorer Scouts Leader-Order of the Arrow; member of Colby Lions Club and President Buhler Kiwanis Club.

          A man of love, honor, and integrity who lived by his chosen motto: "Honor your past, live your present and plan your future."

          In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to Community Presbyterian Church, PO Box 486, Forsyth, MO 65653.

Cremation service has been entrusted to Whelchel Grace Funeral Home, Forsyth., MO.
