Robert "Murl" MaggardOctober 7, 1934 ~ October 10, 2017 (age 83)
Robert M. Maggard of Mansfield, MO., died October 10, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo. He was born October 7, 1934 at Hercules, MO., to Jess and Lula (Cook) Maggard.
He attended the one-room schools of Hercules and Union Flatt. Robert was saved at an early age under the gospel messages of the old-time preachers and singers. He learned to play the guitar at age 11 and played and sang in the local churches with friends and relatives. When he was 19 his family moved to Idaho to work in the fields and orchards. He became an Idaho hunter hunting elk, mule deer, and fishing for trout in the mountain streams. While there, he met and married Juanita Parrill, daughter of Emery and Rosie (Combs) Parrill of Homedale, Idaho. They were blessed with 64 wonderful years together! Robert worked in the Public-School Systems as Head Custodian, Maintenance, Transportation Manager and bus driver.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita of the home; a son Brent Maggard and wife Cathy of Mansfield, Mo.; son Dave Maggard and wife Sandra of Oldfield, MO.; a daughter Darla Day and husband Kent of Bradleyville, Mo.; daughter Anita Busick and husband Rick of Marshfield, MO.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandhildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Jess and Lula Maggard; a son Gary Lee; brothers Willard, Delmer, and Wilton Maggard; sisters Alta Maggard and Gladys Fesperman.
Services were entrusted to Whelchel Grace Funeral Home of Forsyth, MO.
