Paul Franklin Russell, 84, of Walnut Shade, passed from this earth peacefully on April 9, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born to the late James and Clara Russell on August 15, 1933 in Lockwood, MO. He was united in marriage to Freda Mae Russell on August 23, 1956 and to this loving union five children were born: Son Jerry Russell and wife Linnea of Walnut Shade, MO; Son Dannie Russell and wife Christi of Dixon, MO; Son Larry Russell of Walnut Shade, MO; Daughter Connie Van Skike and husband Mike of Walnut Shade, MO; and Daughter Sherry Stopyra and husband Todd of Springfield, MO.
Paul was an extremely devoted and loving father, husband, and grandfather, who found the most joy in the presence of his family. Paul served in the United States Army in Company B, 5th Cavalry Regiment during the Korean War. After Paul retired from the Army he became an extremely skilled electrician with Judah Electric Company. He passed this trade to his children, as he loved to help each of them with big projects, including the building of their own homes throughout the years. During his children’s younger years he served as an active 4-H leader and developed a strong love for farming. This was a hobby he continued for his entire life, and bestowed that love and knowledge to his children and grandchildren.
Paul loved his family even more than he loved himself. He lived his life celebrating the joys and happiness of his children and grandchildren. Paul loved to watch his grandkids at their graduations, sporting events, and other activities. You could guarantee he was their number one fan, waiting with a hug and a kiss when they finished. Holidays were always spent at the home with huge family gatherings, where stories were shared over yummy food.
Paul loved to fish and you could always find him at the lake with Freda and his kids by his side. He always had to make sure the snakes were cleared out for Connie or competed to see who had the biggest fish with Dannie. He loved teaching his grandkids how to drive his boat and how to clean the fish that they had caught that day.
Paul is going to be so deeply missed by all who knew him and especially by his family that his life centered around. Paul is survived by his five children: Jerry, Dannie, Larry, Connie, and Sherry. His eleven grandchildren: Jennifer, Jeremy, Jason, Misty, Ashley, Candice, Nick, Jessica, Nathan, Hanna, and Michael. His thirteen great grandchildren: Josiah, Hailey Mae, Jordan, Alyssa, Olivia, Jacob, Abigail, Sadie, Evan, Owen, Eli, Micah, and Nash Franklin. He is also survived by his brother, Dale Russell, of Reeds Spring, MO.
He was preceded in death by his wife Freda Mae Russell and his parents James and Clara Russell.
