Obituary

Donald (Don) Richard Swan of Forsyth, Missouri entered into heaven on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 as he valiantly fought Alzheimer’s.

Don was born on March 7, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois to Paul and Evelyn Swan.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jack Swan of Thornton, Illinois.

He married Denia Martin Swan in 1980.  They have three children: Sheri Swan Friend (Rick) of Forsyth, Rick Swan of Forsyth and Jonas Batesel (Brooke) of Nixa.  He has seven grandchildren: Jeremy Springer, Jaden Rudderham, Ella Batesel, Lincoln Batesel, Leo Batesel, Missy Friend Summers and Andy Friend.  He has six great-grandchildren: Titan Springer, Hailey Springer, Gray Springer, Elliott Friend, Dylan Summers and Dalton Summers.

Don served in the Navy for two years and was a member of the Shriner’s Abou Ben Adhem of Southwest Missouri, The Scottish Rite of Joplin, Missouri and a 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Illinois and Forsyth, Missouri.

Don was employed by the Taney County Sheriff’s Department for 20 years.  He served as a road Deputy and a Detective.  After retiring he held the position of Eastern Taney County Commissioner for 4 years.

Don was a member of The River Church for 15 years. Some of his volunteer services at the church included greeter, grounds keeper and coffee service. 

Don loved fishing, golfing, tickling his grandchildren and playing with his dog, Dinky.  He loved spending time with family and friends and being on his houseboat or bass boat.

Visitation will be held at The River Church in Forsyth, Missouri on August 21, 2021 at 1:00 pm.  Celebration of Life will be held at The River Church in Forsyth, Missouri on August 21, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at Ozark Memorial Park, Branson, Missouri.
