Dr. Mark A. Davis, 67.
Dr. Mark Allan Davis D.D.S., was born in Boone, Iowa May 26, 1955, and died July 4, 2022 at home in Taneyville Missouri from a sudden and unexpected heart attack. He fought a hard battle of ongoing health issues, undergoing open heart surgery in September 2021, with a most recent diagnosis of lung cancer just a few weeks prior to his passing.
Mark was one of six children, born to the late Dr. Larry Davis D.D.S. of Powersite, MO and the late Helene Davis of Des Moines IA. Mark grew up in Ogden Iowa and graduated from Ogden High School in 1973 and worked at Linder Tires while attending DMCC Junior College for 2 years in Boone Iowa. He then furthered his education to obtain his Bachelor of Science in Zoology at Iowa State University, while taking care of his mother in Ames Iowa. He married his wife Deborah Davis in 1976, and they had 6 beautiful children. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery when he graduated from the University of Iowa Dental School in 1984. He packed up his family and moved to Forsyth Missouri in 1984 where he helped take over his dad’s dental practice and began living out his dream of practicing dentistry and providing to the community of Forsyth, up until he fell ill in September 2021.
Mark’s occupation was dentistry, but as you all know he loved his job and loved taking care of people. He always did what was best and right for his patients. He was calm, gentle, reassuring and honest. He might not have remembered everyone’s name, but he remembered every single tooth he worked on. He couldn’t wait to get better and get back to dentistry and reloading ammunition in his free time! He missed out on a lot of fun activities the last several months of his life, but loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, sport shorting, building, and storytelling. Outside of his family and work, he had several hobbies. He was an active member of the Forsyth Bass Club and president of the bass club for several years. He loved to fish. He enjoyed hunting and shared the love of the outdoors with his son Matt and grandson Conner. He was an avid firearm enthusiast and NRA member. He was a member of the NRA and Taneycomo Rifle and Pistol Club. He was exceptionally good at fixing and building things. He would rather do it himself (the right way) than to pay someone else that might mess it up, which he shared this attitude and talent with his daughter Mindy.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, brother Keith Davis, sister Janet Ross, brother Brent Davis, newborn daughter Angie Davis and newborn son Mark Davis Jr. He will be forever missed by his living siblings, children, and grandchildren: sister Klarice Ferguson and her husband Richard of Rockaway Beach MO and Jefferson IA, brother Jeff Davis and wife Sabrina of Des Moines IA, sister Nina Davis and Tim Pratt of Midlothian TX, sister Shawna Davis of Springfield MO, past wife Deborah Davis of Taneyville MO, daughter Mindy Matthews and husband Bob of Taneyville MO, son Matt Davis and wife Jessica of Billings MO, daughter Melissa Davis of Taneyville MO, daughter Dr. Michelle Davis of Forsyth MO, and his deeply adored seven grandkids: Shelby, Conner, Mackenzie, Ashley, Colten, Bailey and Bella. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and will also be missed greatly but many lifelong friends and patients.
In lieu of flowers Mark would have wanted you to “save your money” and spend it on your family. He will be waiting at the gates of Heaven for us all someday.
