Obituary

It is with deep sadness and much sorrow we announce the passing of our treasure, Frank Ronald Davis (Ronnie), 81, of Cedarcreek, Missouri. Ronnie passed away on April 3, 2023, at his cabin home surrounded by loved ones, following a well fought battle with cancer.

He was born August 10, 1941, to Joseph “Elmer” and Vertie Iona (Persinger) Davis. Ronnie loved the Lord and was baptized April 16,1961, in Bear Creek, Rockland, California.

Ronnie, a loving husband, is survived by his wife Linda (Cobb) Davis of the home; son Roy Davis and wife India of Kirbyville, Missouri; extended children, Kimberly Fox and Theraca Fox; one sister-in-Law Mary Davis (Clifford); one brother-in-Law Martin Tyndall (Evelyn); five sisters: Anita Anderson; Iona Jean Davidson; Diana Tilley, Doris Wood (Fred), and Linda Morey (Bruce); three brothers Joe Davis (Gina), Gary Davis (Tina), and Elmer Davis.  Combined, he and Linda were blessed with 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ronnie spent his career working to protect the Forests of Taney County.  He worked in the Forestry Branch of the Missouri Department of Conservation, where he served time in watch towers, fought forest fires, planted trees and was involved in clean-up and careful oversight of forest protections.  He retired after 40 years of seasonal service and was awarded a plaque of appreciation by the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Following retirement, he loved to fish, raise small farm animals, and watch the deer graze in his yard.  Ronnie had the personality and natural charisma to make friends, his laugh was infectious to those around him.  He loved to teach children about nature and tell them stories, some factual and others maybe not so factual, but they went away learning something new and maybe had a new kitten, a baby chick, or a duckling to take home with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Rhonda Davis; stepson Billy Fox; two brothers Clifford Davis and Gilbert Davis; and one sister Evelyn Tyndall.

A gathering for family and friends will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Whelchel Grace Funeral Home, Forsyth, Missouri with visitation at 2:00 p.m. and a small service to follow at 3:00 p.m.  A public Celebration of Life will be held at his son, Roy Davis’ home at 2087 Yandell Cove Rd, Kirbyville, Missouri, April 23, 2023, at 12:30 PM.

This was Ronnie’s favorite type of celebration, and we invite everyone who knew him to join us there.
