Gary Wayne Hampton, age 73, of Kansas City Mo, passed away January 20, 2022, at the Northcare Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO after sustaining a stroke on January 5th, 2022.
He was born on July 29, 1948, in Forsyth, MO to Sherman and Ethel Hampton. He was united in marriage to Linda Kay Soutee on July 22, 1966, in Forsyth, MO. He graduated from Forsyth High School in 1966 then attended and graduated from the Water and Wastewater Technical School at Crowder College in Neosho, Mo, in 1968. Afterwards, Gary and his wife Kay moved to Kansas City and begin his career with the City of Kansas City Missouri’s Pollution Control Department where he worked for 35 years.
He had many hobbies that he enjoyed over the years. A few of these included: Ham Radios, Baseball Cards, Coins, and he especially liked to listen to his collection of chimed and musical clocks. He was an animal lover and collected several of the neighborhood strays. He loved to watch his son’s baseball games and later his grandsons’ games. He spent countless hours at ballfields across Kansas City doing this, if there was a ballfield in Kansas City, he had been to it. He enjoyed the company of his daughter-in-law, Denna. She brought many a smile to his face.
Most of all he loved his wife, Kay. They were married as 17-year-old kids and for 55 years built a life together. They enjoyed a love that could not be described in words.
Gary was a quiet but exceptionally kind man that accepted the people in his life as they were. He never spoke badly about anyone. He will be greatly missed.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Sherman and Ethel Hampton, his brothers Denzil Hampton, Donnie Hampton and Lonnie Hampton and his infant sister Nadine Hampton.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Linda Kay Hampton. His son Jason Hampton and wife Denna and his grandsons Jackson and Logan Hampton whom he adored. His brother Carl Hampton and his wife Mary and many nieces and nephews.
