Johnny “John” F. Baker, 72, of Bolivar.
John entered into eternal rest Saturday August 8, 2020 in Springfield, MO., with his family around him. He was born on December 7, 1947, the son of Kirby and Ruby (Bounds) Baker, in Portsmouth, VA.
John was a Vietnam veteran. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, barbecuing, working in his garage, building things, mowing the yard, playing with his dog Barbie, and spending time with his family.
John was the greatest husband and father: always making sure his family was taken care of. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anybody that needed it. He had a great sense of humor. He was an amazing man that will be missed by his family and many friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents Kirby and Ruby (Bounds) Baker, Grandparents Fred and Tisshie Baker, Stepmother Hazel Baker, Brother Ricky Baker, and Daughter Carolyn Appleberry. He is survived by his wife Rose Baker of Bolivar, MO; Three sons: John Dever of Bolivar, John Daniel Baker of Springfield, MO, and Michael Baker of Springfield; Two brothers: Eddie Baker of Pleasant Hope, MO, and Kirby Baker of Tin Town, MO; Two sisters: Theresa Morris of Springfield and Tonya McNeely of Pleasant Hope. One Aunt: Emma Jean Waldren of Springfield. Four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday August 12, 2020 from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Walnut Shade, MO., at 12:30 PM, with Pastor David Holvick of the Walnut Shade General Baptist Church officiating.
Memorials are requested to the cemetery for continued care.
