Jon Alan Vandeventer, age 60, of Taneyville, Missouri, entered the arms of Jesus on April 8, 2023. He was surrounded by his family whom he loved and who loved him. Jon was born May 18, 1962, in Springfield, Missouri to Jack and Jean (Leota) Vandeventer.
Jon was an extraordinary man who was dedicated to his loving family, work, farming and most importantly our Lord and Savior. Jon served as a deacon in his church, Taneyville Union Chapel. Jon’s love for the Lord was evident in all he did. Jon was a heavy equipment operator for Hartman Construction as well as on the Pipeline for many years. He could run any piece of equipment and do almost any job. He made operating look like a piece of art. Jon was a handy man through and through; he could build cabinets, remodel houses, and was quite the mechanic. Jon served on the Central Taney County Fire Department for fifteen years.He had a love for serving others and the community and has passed down his love of that and his skills to both of his sons.
Jon is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Jean Vandeventer. He is survived by his loving wife Diana Vandeventer (Sims) of 40 years; sons Tyler and wife Heather Vandeventer of Kissee Mills, Missouri and youngest son Trever Vandeventer of Taneyville, Missouri; brother Jerry and wife Kathy Vandeventer of Republic, Missouri; sister JoAnn Sparkman of Clever, Missouri; nieces Aliana and husband Rich Gray of Republic, Missouri, Stephanie and husband Desmond Jackson of Oklahoma City; father- and mother-in-love Mary and Gary Sims who loved him like their own; brothers-in-law Chris and wife Dawn Sims of Taneyville, Missouri, Robert and wife Karen Sims of Taneyville, Missouri; nieces Kaylee and Mazie Sims, Trina and husband Joshua Stevens of Aurora, Missouri and Nicloe and husband Dallas Ross of Republic, Missouri; and nephew Casey Sims of Taneyville, Missouri; four great-nephews and four great-nieces; and Oilfield family Wayne and Charlotte Collins of Midland, Texas.
