Larry Dean Moehl

Larry Dean Moehl passed away from complications of cancer on May 22, 2023, at the age of 76 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri with his caring wife Cleone (Cleo) by his side. 

Larry was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1946 where his love of community, entrepreneurship, and car culture sprouted early. 

Larry and Cleo married in 1968 and moved south to Forsyth, Missouri ten years later for warmer weather and the beauty of the Ozarks.  It was in Missouri that Larry and Cleo launched several businesses and contributed to the community in so many ways.  Larry was probably most proud of his contributions as a Forsyth city alderman.  That pride stemmed from the natural fellowship that formed among community leaders that shared common goals. 

Larry was active in the car industry - sales, repair, and customization - for six decades.  In recent years, he made many friends through his work with the Branson Collector Car Auction. 

All who knew Larry, can attest to his sharp wit and wry humor.  He loved a good practical joke.  A dear friend recalls being shocked when a 300-pound pig statue materialized in the middle of his bank office.  Once freed from the glass-walled office, the pig made surprise appearances in friends’ yards and businesses. 

Ultimately, Larry would count himself fortunate for the camaraderie of good friends and the love of his family.  Likewise, we are fortunate to have had him in our lives.  Larry was a teacher, life-coach, and good friend to many.  And we’ll also remember him for all the cool cars he’s helped create along the way.

Larry is survived by his wife Cleo, son Daron (wife Leslie), and grandson Cory.  

Inurnment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery Cedar Falls, Iowa at a later date.
