Shirley passed away April 29, 2023, at the age of 77, in her home surrounded by her loved ones. She fought a long, hard battle with lung cancer for five years before being called to her heavenly home with the Lord. She didn’t want to say “goodbye”, but rather “see you later”.
Shirley was born in Pratt, Kansas, on June 14, 1945, as the 9th of 12 children to Clarence and Ethel Viola Scott. The family moved to Ozark County when she was very young. She attended Barefoot School with her siblings and later went on to Lutie school. Her mother and all the children would walk to the Pentecostal Church in Longrun, Missouri most Sundays. This is where her love of music and playing the guitar blossomed. She had many fond memories of her family and friends during this time that she loved sharing. She was baptized later in life at Big Creek with many family members and friends to witness.
She and her first husband, Darrell Myers, moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she worked as a seamstress in a factory that made heavy wool coats in the hot summertime. Even though this was her job to sew, it was also a hobby of hers. She sewed and put together many sets of Raggedy Ann and Andys for her children and grandchildren. After retiring, they moved back “Down Home” where they enjoyed being with the kids and grandchildren for many years before Darrell’s passing in 1999.
On May 2, 2009, while at the restaurant that Jeff and Debbie owned in Isabella, a man named James Radewan followed her outside to talk with her. They were instantly smitten, and she married her second love in July. She enjoyed planting trees and flowers in her yard where Jim would patiently mow around them all. They have spent many happy years together.
Along with all of these hobbies, she also enjoyed watching the purple martins in her yard, shopping, playing dominos, going to the casino to play the penny slot machine and eating at Colton’s. She always said that Jim could cook a better steak though.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Clarence and Viola Scott; first husband, Darrell Myers; brothers Elvie Scott, Bob Scott and J T Scott; sisters Mary Lou Scott, Ann Hamm and Lois Myers.
She is survived by her husband of the home, James Radewan of Theodosia, Missouri; daughter Sherry Skinner and husband Tommy Joe of Protem, Missouri; daughter Debbie Richey and husband Jeff of Isabella, Missouri;. bonus children by marriage include Tamie Jo Myers Canterbury and husband Clark of Lebanon, Missouri, Jimmie Radewan and wife Sandy of North Prairie, Wisconsin, Joe Radewan of Rochester, Wisconsin and Jeff Radewan of Honey Lake, Wisconsin; four grandchildren Christy Cox, Misty Skinner, Samantha Johnson and Allison Richey; seven great-grandchildren by age: Jordan Henderson, Tanner Jennings, Timmy Henderson, Mason Jennings, Gracie Brotherton, Maylee Johnson and Ember Johnson. One great-great grandchild, Eleanor Henderson; siblings Dub Scott, Albert Scott, Frank Scott, Ernie Scott and Pauline Akins; along with many nieces and nephews that are too numerous to name, but whom she loved very much.
The family wants to express our utmost love to each of you for all the prayers and love that you have shown her in the past and to each of us. Even though we have heavy hearts with her passing, we also have joy and hope in knowing that we will be together again with our Lord in heaven someday.
Memorial graveside services for Shirley Scott Myers Radewan, age 77, of Theodosia, MO will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Lutie Cemetery in Theodosia with Don Yarger officiating.
