Lucy Wade

July 19, 1952 ~ August 26, 2019 (age 67)

Lucy Wade,

Lucy Wade, 67, passed away with her family by her side on Monday, August 26, 2019 at her home in Vail, Arizona.  She was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Loyd and Aileen (Heflin) Dever on July 19, 1952.

Lucy is the most beautiful person I’ve ever known.  Lucy was a great friend and a loving person:  always thoughtful toward everyone around her, even to the end of her life -- apologizing for having the illness which would claim her life.  She helped others whenever she could and even sometimes when she couldn’t.  She had a brightness about her that spread to those around her.  Lucy had a kind and a good heart that lives on . . .

Lucy was a software programmer.  She enjoyed hiking, riding on the ATV through the many miles of desert trails, listening to country music, reading books, and she loved working in her yard:  working on stone masonry projects (such as stone retaining walls and stone flower beds), and planting flowers.  However, most of all, Lucy loved spending time with her son and her family.

The song titled, “Medals for Mothers”, describes Lucy very well:  “I dreamed Mama walked up those heavenly stairs, and medals for Mothers were given up there.  They mentioned the million things Mom did for me - things I took for granted and never could see.  If there’s medals for Mothers for all of the deeds they have done, if there’s medals for mothers, Mama you’ll win every one . . .”

Lucy will always be loved and remembered by those who know her:  a special Lady -- my special Lady – my best buddy, indeed.

Lucy will be missed more than words can say.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Wade; her parents, Loyd and Aileen Dever; and sister, Della White.  She is survived by her son, Brian Wade of Vail, Arizona;  four sisters: Susan Montgomery of Bolivar, Missouri,  Barbara White of Selmer, Tennessee, Rose Baker of Bolivar, Missouri, Lorene English of Ash Flat, Arkansas; and a brother Joe Dever of Harrisburg, Arkansas.

Visitation will be at Whelchel Grace Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 3, 2018 from 10:30 AM until the funeral service at 12:00 PM, with Pastor David Holvick of the Walnut Shade General Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Walnut Shade, Missouri.
