Leona Maxine Newton, 96, of Springfield, MO passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020. She was born on September 28, 1923 to Oliver Donlay and Malissia Nancy Donlay in Dexter, KS.

Leona was born and raised in rural Kansas. She was the 12th child of 14. After meeting her soon to be husband, Harry, she moved to California and married him. The two of them started a family and shortly after, returned to Arkansas City, Kansas where they raised 2 daughters who were the pride of their lives. Leona was an avid golfer, even achieving championship flight. When she could no longer spend her days on the golf course, she settled for watching it on TV. She enjoyed beating her friends and family at the game of dominoes. She also loved to dance and was frequently known to turn the radio on and take a spin around the room. And of course, she absolutely loved marathon get-togethers with her family. Her family adored her and she adored them.
