Mildred Rowland, 100, of Cedarcreek.
Mildred departed this life to move to her heavenly home December 30, 2020.
She was born August 22, 1920 to John Lewis and Nancy Ella (Patterson) Collins in Cedarcreek, Missouri.
She attended grade schools in the Cedarcreek area and then graduated from high school at School of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, MO. She married Tom Rowland September 22, 1940 in Marionville, MO. They operated a gas station and grocery store east of Forsyth when they were first married. They then traveled to Oregon working in the fruit orchards before returning to St. Louis where Tom was employed with Curtiss Wright Corporation building aircraft. Tom was then drafted in the Armed Services and Mildred accompanied him around the United States at various training bases. She returned to Cedarcreek when he was deployed overseas. Upon Tom’s return from service, they again operated the gas station and grocery store east of Forsyth.
Mildred worked at various jobs: housekeeper, summer camp employee, cook, waitress, garment factory, Skaggs Hospital (cook), and spent most of her working time at the gas station & grocery store east of Forsyth. They also operated a service station in Sparta for 3 years.
Mildred and Tom retired to the farm in Cedarcreek in 1976.
She was a devoted Christian who was loved by everyone who met her. She returned that love in many ways, by feeding lots of people at her table (from the wonderful gardens she and Tom raised) especially during hunting seasons, fishing trips and holidays. Mildred made several quilts, pieced together with love, for family members and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing, making many of her own clothes.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Forsyth Nursing and Rehab Center for the loving attention given her over the past 3 years.
Mildred was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Brothers (Hobart and Norman), and her daughter Carol.
She is survived by her Sons, Larry Rowland (Kathy), Cedarcreek and Lyle Rowland (Glenda), Cedarcreek; 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
The graveside burial will be private, for family only.
